Pedestrian With Medical ID Bracelet Killed In Front Of South Jersey Hospital, Police Say

A Gloucester City man wearing a medical identification bracelet was struck by a pickup and killed in front of a Washington Township hospital, authorities said.

George West, 69, died in the crash on Hurffville Cross Keys Road on Monday, Nov. 11, the Washington Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers responded to the scene near Regulus Drive and in front of Jefferson Washington Township Hospital at around 8:25 p.m.

Investigators said a black Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on Hurffville Cross Keys Road when the pickup hit West in the southbound lane. West was identified by his Jefferson Hospital ID band. 

NJ Advance Media says West had been discharged from the hospital but it was not known when.

West suffered from severe injuries and first-arriving officers gave him CPR. He was rushed back to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash closed Hurffville Cross Keys Road for about two hours. The investigation remained ongoing as of Tuesday, Nov. 12.
